And he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’
In the days of the Bible book of 2:Kings, ordinary people needed to find a prophet to speak to the God. We are in such a privileged position now, because God’s Holy Spirit can live in side us, we can talk to God for ourselves.
In this chapter 3 Kings were searching around for someone who could ‘enquire’ of the Lord and one of the servants piped up stating that Elisha a prophet was there.
They needed wisdom about how they were going to get water, because their armies of men and animals had no water to drink, if they did not find some soon they would lose the battle and their lives!
The prophet had a word from God and told them they should build ditches in the valleys they were in, for it would produce enough water to restore them.
Where do you get your water?
When we are in need of water today where do we look? We should look to God! Whatever it is we need we should turn to the ‘creator’ the one who ‘knows all things’ and ‘can do all things.’
No Water, No Life!
Water is a life source, that hydrates us to function, just as our bodies need water our Spirit’s cry out for water too and in the same way spiritual dehydration will kill us spiritually!
To grow in your Christian walk and to grow in your care and discipleship of your family you need to drink spiritually every day, so going from one week to another with only one drink of water will kill you.
Daily Drinking
It should be our aim this New Year to drink daily, and to drink more each day, as we go through the year.
With daily prayer time, daily confessing your faith and trust in God’s goodness towards you, daily getting in to the Bible each morning to let the truth of it change the error in you makes a monumental difference.
Incremental change is the best, day after day consistency and faithfulness gets rewarded especially with God.
What our families need more than anything is a Man who is consistently growing more and more in to the image and likeness of Christ.
If you haven’t already, start today
Go to task with your morning devotion to your maker, to your Father, if you are not currently doing anything regularly start with just 5mins consistently.
Start small and I promise you (if you stay in the game) you will finish big!
