There is something powerful about new beginnings. You can have a new beginning at anytime but even more so at a New Year.
What are some of the things you may need to move on from that are not good for you?
What are some distractions you should let go of?
So How is your walk with God right now? For all of us it could be better…….. some of us are thinking, yeah actually it’s ‘not good!’
If you’d lost contact with your BEST friend and had the opportunity to reconnect wouldn’t you grab it??
Do you want to have a relationship with the Father?
Have you had one before?
Do you want to know more about who God is?
Do you want to know for yourself what God thinks about you and what kind of man you can be?
Then one simple adjustment is to just get in to the Bible and start talking to the Father.
King David’s experience….(the tough and kind of naughty man, not Mr perfect. The one who cheated and killed!)
Psalms 63:1-8 NLT
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.
Wow, I want a relationship with my Saviour like that. You read David’s word and you feel his passion his dependance and his heart for God.
The Hebrews writer says…
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
The Bible promises that God will reward us with treasure when we seek Him in the Bible. I certainly did last night. Instead of go to Netflix I went to my ‘paper version’ Bible. Reading though some of the accounts of the Kings of Judah in 2 Chronicles, I came across the account of King Hezekiah and in it found a scripture promise that speaks exactly to what God has been saying to me for this year. I will stand on this scripture and take it as a promise for the rest of the year! When distraction comes this will remind me and anchor me.
Jesus said…..
Matthew 6:31-33 NKJV
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
To good to be true!! The offer is amazing! What could be stopping us???
What is stopping you? ……. Yeah, that stuff. It could also be discipline. Just the commitment of disciplining yourself to reading the word a chapter a day, through the New Testament and getting back on track when we get off track. As we know there is a lot of benefit in good habits.
So where will you start?
I’m starting in the Gospel of John and going in to Acts and then straight through to Revelation.
