Part of the difficulty of having so many children is sometimes individual bad habits go unnoticed longer than they should. With all of us when we are in a busy season our good eating habits seem to go out of the window sooner than we realise. With having a 3 month old beautiful baby in the house it is only now apparent to us that eating habits of our ever growing (in height) 10 year old could be a lot better – and could improve his mood no doubt too!
Although as parents of older children will testify…. the soon coming hormones of puberty will unleash a new world upon us soon enough. Lol. But for now I know that if he really wants to play in the Premier League what he eats is going to be important!
I would appreciate any advice or experience any one wants to give……
Here is my Plan:
BREAKFAST –
Normally it’s alternatives of Fruit Juice or Choc milkshake that he loves from the shop and toast. Not too much nutritional value. Because we have been experimenting for a while with home made smoothies and juices so he does sample some times. Though this week is the week! So it’s Juices or Smoothies for breakfast for him and rather than toast lets try Oats with dried fruit, nuts, seeds.
LUNCH –
Today he tried guacamole and surprise surprise quite liked it! And gobbled down tuna on wholemeal seeded toast with a boiled egg. Much better than his normal small ham sandwich with crisps and brunch bar. Without me knowing he consumed some chocolate biscuits this morning (Lol) but didn’t want any snack based food at lunch with the filling and nutritious lunch.
DINNER –
This will be the time we tackle lots of vegetables! Some healthy meat and some nutritious grain on the side. We visited friends last weekend and they were using Hello Fresh – very good appealing plan – though for now too expensive – so I need to get the cook books out and engage the kids with making some healthy dinners and gradually educate them on what we are eating.
Due to my wife testing positive for Covid yesterday – thankfully she is quite well with some manageable symptoms – our forced isolation for 10 days is a good kickstart to this needed challenge.
Any advice and easy and healthy meal & snacks ideas please do share!
