2024 Goals and Habits

For many years now I’ve enjoyed using Michael Hyatt’s Best Year Ever teaching for planning for the New Year.

Again I’ve set a number of goals, but my intention has been to increase the healthy habits that I have been working on over the last year or two and focus in on some Intentional areas within my family life.

One of the main goals to focus on is to continue my intent with daily steps. Since the summer, its amazing how many days can be quite sedentary. Through January my goal has been 7k steps going to 7.5k and by the summer 10k steps a day.

I have recently got in to the sport Padel so another aim is to play a minimum of 1 game a week.

I’ve set a goal for reading a certain amount of books with each of my kids this year and to monitor the amount of books they are reading. A challenging goal but very fulfilling one is to teach 2 chapters of the Mystery of History volume 1 each week this year. Wow establishing a solid Christian worldview within your children is something else!

Another is tracking the amount of quality dates I am having with my wife. At least 1 date a month out together with a babysitter looking after the kids.

There are a couple of men’s ministry goals within my local church. Which hopefully I’ll post more about Soon.

There are a number of other smaller goals or habits I’ve listed on Trello and will be tracking a couple times a week but these are the main ones.

1 last one is to split the year into quarters and take the family out for a family meal each quarter to focus on the wins and success of the last 90 days that each person in the family has achieved – what we celebrate and applaud we will get more of especially with our little ones!

I hope you have some goals or habits that your working on too. God calls us to pick up our cross each day and grow in discipline and purpose. I’m looking forward to the discipline it will grow and the results of the habits and focus that have been planned.
