Maximised Manhood: Chapter 1

2 minutes

This is the classic Ed Cole book – it is a foundation in biblial manhood. Even though this book was written in 1982, now lose to 40 years ago! It’s themes are still is so current and of course mans problems are timeless.

Maximum Sentence:

Ed kicks his book off by stating that there is a moral pollution is taking it’s toll on manhood – men need to understand and do something about it!

Now 38 years later the crises and onslaught is even greater as the slip from a Christian society effects the goodness of men ever more. With this back drop and the advances in tech and internet platforms I am AMAZED there is no readily available Christian men’s platform to provide guidance on all things Godly.

10 years ago Mark Driscoll’s the Resurgance had some good stuff, Doug Wilson at Cannon Press has some good blogs and podcasts – but I can’t find any App or website that is a ‘go too’. If your not a Christian, ‘The Art of Manliness’ is a cool place to be encouraged and toughened up. But where is the greater matters? What has the Church provided? Surely this is the biggest need in the body of Christ – Godly men?

That then I believe is my mission in life to see this happen, one way or another! My son needs a ‘go to’ and so do other billions of young and old men out there!

Cole speaks of a basic truth that God has a land of Promise and blessing for His People – though the reasons men don’t enter is due to a range of failures which are ….

  1. Lust
  2. Idolatry
  3. Fornication
  4. Tempting Christ
  5. Murmuring

We all struggle no doubt from one of those at different times, these where the issues that the people of Israel in the Old Testament struggled with and kept them out of the promised land, the principle is the same today! Wondering around in wilderness like the empty desolute land in the image below is not God’s plan for us!

Thankfully He sent Christ to save us from that emptiness and to sympathies with our weakness!
